The nursery and landscaping work in Rhode Island grows fast. Many eye new careers here. The COVID-19 shifts change the world. The plant work hires need more workers. The Rhode Island Nursery and Landscaping Association (RINLA) helps close the gap. Its head, Shannon Brawley, points out the work finds many open spots.
RINLA’s Job
RINLA stands for workers and companies alike. This group means arborists, farmers, garden shops, and stone workers. Demand for green work and plant care grows each day. Shannon Brawley says, "The plant work grows fast and shows more open spots than workers." In this gap, chance meets those who care for green work. RINLA trains locals to gain skills for each good job.
Open Jobs
Rhode Island fills with work spots. Atlantic Lawn & Garden in Jamestown seeks tree care hands. In Warren, Staton’s Landscaping wants a cost estimator. In Johnston, Cherryhill Flowers asks for florists. These open spots show the work buzz, especially in busy months when jobs spark high.
RINLA sets up a "Growing Futures Boot Camp" to join job hopes with training. The camp runs June 21-25. It helps those who wish for a green career in yard work, greenhouse care, or farm acts.
Training and New Skills
The camp gives real work time. In the neat Arcadia Management Area, campers work near nature. They gain plant care ideas, yard style ideas, and more. To join, one must be 18 or more, love plants, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Those who finish get a paper that shows work know-how. They get help to find a job too. The camp includes lessons to show how to write a resume and a list of openings with about 600 companies. This strong help means job chances stay high for each camper.
